Soy Does Help Hot Flashes

It's often reported that Asian women experience less hot flashes than other women and now we may know why. In a recently published meta-analysis of 19 studies involving more than 1200 women, researchers at the University of Delaware concluded that taking at least 54 milligrams of soy isoflavones per day for 6 weeks to a year reduces the frequency of hot flashes by about 20% and their severity by 26%. Soy, mostly in the form of tofu, is a common mainstay in the Asian diet. With both tofu and edamame beans widely available in U.S supermarkets, they're worth a try if soy is not yet a part of your diet.
