A Recipe for Valentine’s Day – Every Day

While Valentine's Day is a commercial holiday that moves a lot of greeting cards, flowers, chocolates, and dinner reservations, HFN would like to suggest two things for you to think about. One is getting in a Valentine's Day kind of mood more than once a year with your partner. The other, and maybe an even more important focus, is caring for yourself.

Menopause, Your Mom, and You

The genetic bond you share with your mother affects everything from the color of your hair to the color of your language. The genetic makeup you share with your mother can reveal a great deal of health-related issues and answers, especially regarding the age at which your mother entered menopause.

What Does Menopause Do to Your Heart?

When you think of heart disease, you may think of someone who isn't leading a healthy lifestyle or perhaps you think of your own genetics. The number one cause of death in American women is heart disease, which accounts for over half of all deaths in women in the United States exceeding 50 years old.

What Is Menopause?

You've heard the word menopause; you may even remember your mother talking about it. But you never associated the word with yourself. Then a few years ago you started noticing some changes in your body. They may have been ever so subtle—like an occasional blush for no reason, a few unusual monthly flows, or minor mood swings—or they may have been jaw-dropping changes—like full-assault hot flashes or a series of urinary tract infections (UTIs)
